Michael M. Berlin, J.D., Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice and Coordinator of the Criminal Justice Graduate Program at 天美视频 in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Berlin鈥檚 areas of specialization include: constitutional law and criminal procedure, community policing, criminal justice leadership and management and terrorism/homeland security. Prior to his appointment at 天美视频, Dr. Berlin served as a Professor of Criminal Justice at Baltimore City Community College where he directed both on-campus and Baltimore Police Academy Programs for over a decade. He is an attorney with more than 20 years experience in private practice and is a former Baltimore Police Officer. Dr. Berlin served as an instructor at the U.S. State Department sponsored International Law Enforcement Academy in Roswell, New Mexico, where he taught thousands of police supervisors from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Central and South America. He has also served as an instructor for police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians at a U.S. Department of Homeland Security sponsored anti-terrorism training in Socorro, New Mexico. Dr. Berlin was named Instructor of the year by the Maryland Police Training Commission in 2003 and received the Distinguished Graduate Faculty Award from 天美视频 in 2012. His recent publications include Crime Scene Searches and the Fourth Amendment, The Evolution, Decline and Nascent Transformation of Community Policing in the United States: 1980 鈥 2010, An Overview of Police Academy Training in the United States and an Interview of the Honorable Robert M. Bell, Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals of Maryland (State Supreme Court).
