More Than Room and Board

People commonly use the term room and board to describe the dormitories and meal plans students use when living on a college or university campus. Put another way—when you think of room and board think of campus housing and dining. Residential life at Coppin is more than a place to sleep at night. Our residential experience is an opportunity to build lasting friendships and relationships on a safe and welcoming campus. Ours is a campus where you can study, sleep, and relax with all the modern conveniences of urban living.

For dining, look no further than our Talon Center, home to student dining, full-service kitchen, meeting rooms, and a convenience store. We offer a variety of campus meal plans where students can depend on regular meals in several of our campus locations.

We work hard to craft menus, meals, as well as residential, and extracurricular experiences that speak to our university mission to support the whole person, and not just academic or professional development. We consider it our highest priority to care for, and encourage health and well-being for everyone within our Coppin community, including students, faculty, and staff.

We hope this page is a helpful resource for some of your questions about our residential and campus community. If you have any additional questions or would like to speak to someone, please call or email us!

Housing

We have 2 buildings Daley Hall & Dedmond Hall. First-year students live in Daley Hall and our upper-class students live Dedmond Hall.

Housing Room Types

Our buildings are suite style with 2 persons per bedroom with a common living room and bathroom space inside the suite.

Housing Amenities

Furnished, Free Cable (120 channels), Wifi, A/C and Heat, and laundry on the first floor.

Checking In On Your Student

Please note that the university and housing staff may not disclose any information from a student's record. This includes a student's room, building, or mailbox information. If any parent is concerned about the well-being of their student, they must contact the Office of Residence Life and Housing and request a wellness check. For more information regarding student rights, please review the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Meal Plans

All students desiring to live on campus, must part-take in the university's meal plan. There are three meal plan options: bronze, silver, or gold. For more information about these options, please visit Meal Plan Options. All cost associated with the meal plans are subject to change. Additionally, all updated charges regarding Housing and Meal plan costs will be posted later this year.

Roommate Problems?

If your student is experiencing a roommate concern or problem, please direct your student to speak with someone in the Office of Residence Life and Housing. From there, students will be encouraged to speak with their Resident Assistant about participating in a formal mediation process. For more information, please review the Residence Life section.

Admissions

The college experience at ��Ƶ begins with the Office of Admissions. Did you know you can apply to ��Ƶ from our website? Whether you're an international student or a student from the United States, the Admissions Office is there to help you navigate your college admissions experience. Please visit the Admissions section to address any questions about the campus or the admissions process.

Bursar

Questions regarding your student's bill and payment plans can be addressed at the Bursar and Student Accounts Office. You can visit the Bursar Office and Student Accounts section. Please note that any payments regarding Housing must also be made at this office. If you're inquiring about your student's Housing Fee and would like to make a payment, please call 410.951.6767. You'll be asked for the student's ID number and the credit card number upon the start of the phone call.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid is a great way to assist with the cost of your student's college education. If you have questions regarding financial aid, please visit the Financial Aid section. Financial Aid can be contacted by phone at 410.951.3636 or you can Send an Email, and a member of their staff will be in contact with you.

First Year Experience

Is a great office to get your student involved with the campus community. A multitude of opportunities ranging from campus events; to many service learning opportunities, and academic advising. The First Year Experience Office is where your student should start their educational journey. Advisors are available to assist first-year students with registering for classes. Counseling Center and Student Development

Attending college can be an exciting and enriching experience, but it can also be a time of many stressors. The Center for Counseling and Student Development is a safe place for your student to work on any issues that are creating distress or interfering with their academic success. Coppin State announces the Expand Eagle Nation in-state tuition incentive!

��Ƶ provides in-state tuition for new undergraduate first-year and transfer students. This benefit is available to students from over 30 states and U.S. territories outside of Maryland.

Expand Eagle Nation

Once admitted and enrolled at ��Ƶ, students will benefit from the in-state tuition rate. This rate will continue throughout their undergraduate degree program at Coppin State, with no additional application required.

Complete the undergraduate application for admission here and submit the required documentation. No additional application is needed.

Students will be eligible to pay in-state tuition upon enrollment. They will remain eligible to pay in-state tuition for the duration of their undergraduate degree program at ��Ƶ.

You will continue to receive the in-state tuition rate throughout your undergraduate degree program at ��Ƶ, a maximum of 8 academic semesters.

You need to complete the undergraduate application for admission and submit all necessary documentation as specified by the admissions office.

Yes, new transfer students are eligible to receive this incentive. Note, full-time undergraduate degree-seeking enrollment is required.

Yes, as long as you remain enrolled full-time and in good academic standing, you will continue to receive the in-state tuition rate.

Changing your major should not affect your eligibility for the in-state tuition rate. However, taking a break from your studies may impact your eligibility. Current students should consult with your academic advisor for specific guidance.

You are just a quick walk away from your classes, the library, your friends' rooms, the dining hall and everything else on campus. Academic and administration buildings, the minimart, athletic events, and so much more are just a short walk from your residence hall.

Research suggests students who live on campus tend to stay more active and involved in campus activities. On campus students also more likely to earn higher grades and are less likely to drop out of school than students who live off-campus.

Your college experience is what you make it. And we know students who live in our residence halls are more likely to get active and involved in campus organizations and activities. Coppin offers academic, social, athletic, and recreational programs—all within a short walk from your on-campus home.

The residence halls offer students a chance to develop leadership potential. Hall government, organizations and residence hall-related employment involve students in decision-making and planning activities for the halls.

Residence halls are within a short distance from computer labs, laundry room, vending room, fitness center, mailboxes, micro-fridges, snack bar, and cafeteria.

We've designed residence hall living to meet your needs. Currently, all charges include utilities paid and all associated services. On-campus living is set up to make your life as a student extremely convenient and affordable.

One of the best things about ��Ƶ is our sense of tradition. Living in a residence hall has become a part of that tradition. Students who do not live on campus at least 1 year miss out on a very valuable and fun part on the college experience.

Living on campus is a great way to meet new and interesting people. Many students form lifelong friendships with the people they meet in the residence halls. Research even suggets residential students feel more satisfied with their collegiate experience than their off-campus peers.

The residence halls are staffed with Resident Assistants (RA's) and Resident Hall Directors (RD's) who are live-in personnel available to help residents become acquainted with campus activities and resources. These staff members will counsel and refer students, ensure that maintenance issues are addressed, and help develop a sense of community in the residence halls.

Work orders can be submitted using the EagleLINKS Self Service portal. Log into EagleLINKS and go to the Self Service menu and select Residence Life for the option to submit a work order. If you have any questions, please contact the Housing office.
